Romantic Talents – Contemporary Portraiture Exhibition
Portraiture’s rooted thousands of years ago in both western and eastern civilizations. And each era has its outstanding painters. Artist creates photographic realism or an impressionistic in depicting their human subject, more importantly to manifest subject’s inner essence and significance. Portraiture does not only reveal the significance of the era, subjects’ characteristics, social statues, and civilization, but also embodies artists’ perspective. Artists tried to immense their feelings and sentiments onto their portrait paintings, attempt to transcend their emotion to the viewers.
In the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Art of Nature International and the 5th anniversary of Art of Nature Contemporary Gallery, we proudly present to you Romantic Talents – Contemporary Portraiture Exhibition. We’ve invited 20 well established artists from Hong Kong, Mainland China, and overseas to participate. Media ranging from oil painting, water color, sculpture and print. This exhibition gathers artists from different places and generations, graduates from China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Nanjing University of the Arts, and other well-known art academies from overseas. This portraiture exhibition allows us to search for the changes and clues throughout different eras, to explore how art inherit from the past and develop in the present and how portraiture can further unravel and evolve.
Art not only breaks the barriers between nations and ethnicities, but more importantly it breaks the invisible wall of different cultures and ideologies. It guides us towards mankind’s universal value. Together we can see 20 artists from Hong Kong, overseas and Mainland China being display in same space. Observing how these artists’ expresses themselves and cross-paths with each other. The difference between era and region, imagination and reality, created a “ballade,” a narrative which never been seen before.
